The basic idea behind this site is to act as a depository for postage stamps, first-day covers, miniature sheets, proof sheets, postcards, currencies, and coins, with an emphasis on mosques. The goal is to list as many stamps as possible with a mosque theme. I specialize in mosque stamps. I began collecting stamps when I was 10 years old, with my father initiating the hobby. In addition to stamps, I collect coins, currencies, and antiques.
I am an expert in the mosque stamps thememerely a collector trying to do a service to society by educating others about mosques. I have tried to be as careful as possible when attributing the stamps, but mistakes are inevitable. Please feel free to send your feedback and suggestions to

Early Life & Inspiration
Dr. Rasul's fascination with stamps began at the age of 10, inspired by colorful stamps from the UAE sent by his father, who was working in Dubai. These stamps, along with others from countries like Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines, sparked his lifelong passion for philately. A pivotal moment occurred in 2005 when senior philatelist Viswanatha Iyer encouraged him to focus on a specific theme, leading Dr. Rasul to specialize in mosque-themed stamps.
To share his collection with a broader audience, Dr. Rasul established MosqueStamps.com, a digital archive showcasing mosque-themed stamps, first-day covers, miniature sheets, proof sheets, postcards, currencies, and coins.
Philatelic Achievements
Dr. Rasul holds the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of stamps featuring mosques. As of 2016, his collection comprised 5,915 stamps, and it has since grown to nearly 8,000. His collection includes rare items such as an 1892 Afghan stamp and a 1902 Somali stamp with an inverted center. Notably, his collection features mosque stamps from both Muslim and non-Muslim countries, including Brazil, Belgium, and Panama.
Numismatic Contributions
In addition to philately, Dr. Rasul is an avid numismatist with a focus on ancient Indian and Islamic coins. His specialization includes coins from Tamil Nadu spanning from the 3rd century BCE to 1836 CE, covering dynasties such as the Madurai Sultanate, Madurai Nayaks, and rulers like Tipu Sultan. He has been recognized with several awards, including the first prize from the Madras Coin Society for his collection of Tamil Nadu coins and the Nanayam Kalaignar Award from the International Institute for Tamil Studies.
